Santa Rosa Creek Road

I highly suggest this 15-mile, scenic drive.

Lord, here I am,

This holy place, again.

Beauty surrounds me,

With silence encircling.

Deep into my core,

You have spoken here before.

Who I am, where to go, what to do,

Now speak, anew.

Context: Last week, I went into the hills to pray at my favorite spot, Santa Rosa Creek Road. At the start of my time, I wrote the above. For more pictures, click here.

Seashore Road

Found a poem in my journal that I wrote on New Year’s Eve, 2011. I rather like it.

Seashore road

Today, the bright mists of the seashore road flowed over me,
Enveloping the world in an ocean of gray and gray road before me.
Through the cloud of Yahweh’s glory, I drove.

Now and then, a break, and hills of green shone around me.
Then swiftly by and engulfed again.
I say, “How like me.”

In the glory and presence of God, I see so little around me.
In a colorless world, my heart falls within me.
Yet a boundless country, wild and free, encircles me
And gives of the home that calls out to me.
